Vuk Drašković (born October 15, 1946) is a Serbian politician and writer. He is best known for his role in the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s, and for his leadership of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO).

Early Life

Vuk Drašković was born in Belgrade, Serbia, to a family of Montenegrin origin. His father, Đorđe Drašković, was a prominent lawyer and a member of the Yugoslav Communist Party. Vuk was educated at the University of Belgrade, where he studied law and philosophy. After graduating, he worked as a journalist for the Belgrade-based daily newspaper Politika.

Political Career

In 1990, Drašković founded the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), a nationalist political party that sought to promote Serbian interests in the former Yugoslavia.
