Swae Lee is known as an American rapper, singer, and composer. He is most famous for being one half of the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

Background and Age

Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown was born on June 7, 1995 in Inglewood, CA. His brother, Aaquil Ibinshaman Brown also known as Slim Jxmmi was born two years before him. They lived with their mom, Bernadette, a U.S. Armed force officer, and their more youthful sibling, Michael. Their father left the family when the young men were little. The siblings spent their childhoods living in a series of armed force bases, moving with their mom as she was stationed in California, Mississippi, Maryland and Texas.

In Texas, one of 10-year-old Jxmmi's companions acquainted him with the music software FruityLoops, starting a musical fixation. Before long the family moved once more, back to Mississippi. They went to live with Bernadette's new partner, who turned into the young men's stepfather. They settled in the humbly estimated city of Tupelo, the origin of Elvis Presley. At this point Bernadette had left the military, so as to bring home income, their stepfather sold drugs. Swae said their stepfather was doing whatever he needed to do, keeping them in school, and getting them to class. Whenever their mother and stepdad would argue, the more established two siblings stowed away in their room, writing rhymes and making beats.

When Jxmmi and Swae were 14 and 13 years old, they framed their first group, Dem Outta St8 Boyz. The name was a gesture to their peripatetic childhoods. The third member of the group was Middlebrooks, whom the siblings met playing basketball. At the time, Jxmmi and Swae were calling themselves Caliboy and Kid Crunk, Middlebrooks was Lil Pantz. They started to discharge music and low-fi recordings through social media. Another kid, Jermarcus Jackson otherwise known as JJ Srem turned into their touring DJ.

Guided by the producer Mike WiLL Made-It, Rae Sremmurd released their introduction debut single, "No Flex Zone," by means of EarDrummers Entertainment, in May 2014. The label had been made the previous year through a deal with Jimmy Iovine at Interscope. The single proceeded to sell 1 million copies, coming to No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In November 2019, at the 2019 American Music Awards, Swae and Post Malone were nominated for the Collaboration of The Year Award but lost to Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
