About The World Biography Project
Started in 2009, Biog is an open, web-based biography project. Biog is a free and open resource that enables anyone around the world to create and edit biographies, share stories and connect to other individuals or organizations. The project was started by a group of volunteers based in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Paris. Biog is commonly referred to as The World Biography Project.
As you can see, Biog is an organically growing site. As the project grows and evolves, we hope to continuously improve the site with more languages, better editing tools, and more useful writing and connection systems. You can help by sending us any flaws you see or improvements you think Biog needs to the appropriate email address listed below . We are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help build the project, please contact us at the appropriate email address below.
All the biographical information supplied in Biog's pages is contributed by users from around the world. As the project grows, it is our hope that Biog becomes a source from which one can quickly and easily find biographical information on almost any person in the world. Since anyone can instantly edit and add anything to the project, some of the biographical information at any point in time is naturally inaccurate - either accidentally or intentionally - but like other open web sites, we find that the overwhelming majority of the information on the pages is accurate. As the number of Biog contributors continues to grow, other contributors continuously update and edit the biographies and constantly enhance the overall efficiency and accuracy of Biog. Understanding the nature of a free and open project, we encourage you to use Biog as a helpful resource, but obviously you should not rely solely on it for large investment decisions, criminal court cases or any other important decisions without corroborating documentation verifying the accuracy of the information on this, or any other, site.
Biog is not a "people search engine." Google does a fantastic job of finding almost everything on the web, including people. We personally start all of our searches at Google and can't think of a reason to do it anywhere else. Biog is not a "social network." Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace and countless others do a terrific job of connecting people on the web. We recommend you join one of these networks if you are looking to meet new people. Biog is a web-based resource for biographical information and shared stories. We hope that Biog will be a useful tool to find out more about someone when you are searching for them on Google or connecting with them on a social network.
We encourage everyone who is interested in Biog to get involved. Biog and the biog.org web site are operated by Biog, Inc. Biog, Inc. is based in San Francisco and run by a group of volunteers. Biog, Inc. was established in 2008.
